Rapid and Accurate Determination of Oil and Grease by Spectrophotometric Methods

Three spectrophotometric/colorimetric procedures have been developed for rapid determination of hydrocarbons, vegetable oils, animal fats, waxes, soaps, greases and related matter in aqueous phase. The analytical procedures are applicable to measurement of most light petroleum fuels, although loss of some of any gasoline present during the extraction manipulations can be expected.
