World Livestock and Meat Situation and Outlook

Weaker economic conditions around the world have dampened the demand for meats and have produced overall stagnation in both trade and production of most livestock and poultry items in 1982. The generally weaker demand and prices will continue into 1983 and cause inventory and slaughter trends to deviate from normal cyclical patterns. Also the effects of international exchange rate fluctuations as well as drought-induced problems are and will continue to impact on the world situation of meats.
