Workshop on Methods and Standards for Particle Measurement Held at Honolulu, Hawaii on August 6, 1983

The document contains the texts of the presentations and panel discussion from the Workshop on Methods and Standards for Particle Measurement. Bases for standards are reviewed with attention focused on product requirements and imposed requirements. Areas where more complete standards are needed are identified, including defining materials used as particles and defining the physical properties of particles. Reference materials for particle characterization are reviewed and particle standards in Europe, Japan, and Australia are discussed. It is recommended that the Fine Particle Society form a technical committee to deal with methods and standards for particle measurement, and that a more technically oriented workshop on methods and standards be organized.
