This report is a baseline statement of the sociocultural systems of the Bristol Bay Region in 1980. Chapters I and II present the Introduction and Methodology. Chapters III and IV discuss the Prehistory and History of the Region. Chapter V is an Overview of the Communities of the Region, clustered together in seven subregions. Not all communities are described. Rather, selected communities were chosen for fieldwork and presented as representatives of the subregions as a whole. Data on these communities include information on community infrastructure, economics, and subsistence patterns. Chapters VI and VII address the topics of Land and Politics at the regional with village examples. Chapter VIII describes the Social Health Systems in the Region and the final chapter presents a Summary and suggests possible trends that may be emerging in the Region.
