Assessment of the Health Risks of Morpholine and Diethylaminoethanol

This report reviews the health risks of humans exposure to morpholine and to diethylaminoethanol (DEAE). DEAE has been used to control corrosion in steam-generating and distribution systems. In one system, morpholine was considered as a substitute for DEAE. Live steam is used for humidification of air, sterilization of surgical instruments and preparation of food in a federal medical center. Present knowledge of the possible human health risks of the use of morpholine or DEAE under the circumstances noted is limited. Conclusions, immediate recommendations and research recommendations conclude this report.
