To evaluate exposures to organophosphate pesticides (Counter and Thimet) during formulation and packaging operations, personal breathing-zone and general area air samples, along with wipe samples, were collected for Counter. The concentrations for sealing line employees represent 'potential exposures.' Since respirators were utilized, the 'actual exposures' would be expected to be significantly lower. Currently, there is no Federal standard for occupational exposure to Counter. Questionnaires indicated two of nine employees reported work-related health problems. One employee reported dermatitis, and one employee complained of occasional headaches. A potential health hazard from exposures to Counter existed during this survey.
