New Sand Drain Consolidation Model. Volume 1. Summary Report

This report summarizes the major findings of a comprehensive probabilistic based study of the sand drain-embankment consolidation and settlement problem. It was based upon a field and lab testing program for subsoils encountered at the Vienna Marsh, north of Maryland Route 50, in Vienna, Maryland. The area is a tidal marsh situated along the east bank of the Nanticoke River on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The study is presented in a four volume set, with Volumes II through IV presenting the detailed research findings. Volume I is the executive summary.
