Migration, Social Support and Mental Illness

摘要

The mental health status of Asian-Americans was assessed by employing standard mental health measure having cross-cultural validity and reliability. The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) was used in this study. Those interviewed were 124 Chinese, 112 Koreans, 134 Japanese and 129 Filipinoes. Prevalence rates of psychiatric symptoms, characteristics of social support network, life changes, racial discrimination, and mental health services utilized are provided.
