President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control: Report on the Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Health Care Financing Administration

The report represents the results of the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Service/Health Care Financing Administration (HHS-HCFA) Task Force of the President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control in the Federal Government. This Report, which is one of three reports on HHS, contains major recommendations which, when fully implemented, could result in three-year cost savings and revenue generation of $13,338 million and three-year cash acceleration of $51 million. It should be noted, however, that some of the recommendations may require several years for the savings and revenue to be realized. While all facets of the Public Health Service and Health Care Financing Administration could not be surveyed in the time allotted, areas selected for review were considered to offer significant potential for cost control and improved efficiency.
