摘要

A workshop was conducted in Santa Barbara, California from February 7 to 10, 1983 to evaluate mathematical models for dispersion of drilling effluents, to assess the state of the art in modeling these effluents, and to provide recommendations for future research directions related to the fate of drilling effluents from OCS oil and gas activities. A number of models were selected and run using standard data sets, results were discussed, and the limitations and applications of each model were identified. Additional discussion on the state-of-the-art in modeling physical and chemical processes related to drilling effluent dispersion focused on those processes adequately understood, those that needed further investigation, and the importance of each process in plume dispersion.
