Report of the Class I and Class II Cultural Resources Investigations of the Lake Andes-Wagner Project Area, South Dakota. Volume 1. Archaeological Sample Survey

In April, 1983, the South Dakota Archaeological Research Center initiated a Class I cultural resources investigation of the Lake Andes-Wagner irrigation project in Charles Mix County, South Dakota. Thirty-six sites were recorded as a result of the sample survey. Of these, thirty-two were recorded as isolated finds and two as artifact scatters. The remaining two were recorded as historic sites. The sample results indicated that areas near permanent water have a higher probability of site occurence than other areas.
