摘要

The paper describes a local buckling and nonlinear elastic study of thin-walled I-sections subjected to major axis bending. The paper is divided into three parts which are a study of the local buckling modes of I-beams with slender webs using the finite strip method of buckling analysis of plate assemblies; a summary of a nonlinear elastic analysis method based on the finite strip method of structural analysis of plate assemblies; and a study of three different I-sections with different section geometries and with different levels of imperfection is performed using the nonlinear analysis.
