Factors Explaining Decisions to Terminate or Continue an R and D (Research and Development) Project

This study has identified a set of factors which explains the decisions to terminate or continue commercial R&D projects. From a wide cross section of industry in the United States, 114 commercial R&D projects were studied. The resulting model was able to classify the projects into two groups (terminated and successfully completed) with a high degree of accuracy (92% correct classification) using only 14 variables.
