摘要

A cancer incidence study of heavy construction equipment workers, many of whom were potentially exposed to diesel exhaust emissions, was conducted by Environmental Health Associates. This was supported under contract to the Coordinating Research Council and accomplished in conjunction with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 3, and the California Tumor Registry of the San Francisco Bay Area Resource for Cancer Epidemiology. A separate cause-specific mortality study of the union members was conducted in parallel, the results of which are reported elsewhere. In this report, the results of the cancer incidence study are detailed. Study cohort members were identified from records maintained at the main office of Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 in San Francisco. The study period is from January 1, 1972, to December 31, 1977.
