Workshop on Methodological Challenges in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Held September 15-16, 1984. Executive Summary and Final Report

摘要

The evaluation project undertook an assessment of the state of the art of research in psychodynamic psychotherapy. The central purpose was to clarify the impediments to psychodynamic psychotherapy research currently reflected by the marked imbalance in the filed, which is characterized by far greater research activity in the behavioral therapies than in psychodynamic therapy. To accomplish this evaluation, a group of distinguished and active investigators in the area of psychodynamic psychotherapy research, as well as key figures in the psychoanalytic establishment and academic psychiatry and psychology, were convened to identify the major impediments to research activity and to make recommendations for the most useful ways of moving this field forward.
