Methodology for Evaluation of Integrated Water Reuse Alternatives

This study addresses the problem of integrating reuse within a total water supply wastewater management context over a reasonable planning horizon in a manner that explicitly incorporates hydrologic variability and uncertainty of future demands. The solution approach utilizes a formulation of the transportation network, linking numerous 'single' time networks together, incorporating in the time sequential decision process hydrologic variability. It considers carry over storage for surface and groundwater facilities and seasonal demands. An initial model was set up using a hypothetical simple supply-reuse-wastewater disposal system and then extended to the more complex real-world setting of Carson City, Nevada.
