Guidelines for Historic Structure Report, Historical Data Section, San Juan Fortifications, 1898-1958, were formulated. These guidelines called for the preparation of the report through examination and synthesis of pertinent War Department and Department of the Army documents; English language newspapers and periodicals; and a field reconnaissance of the defenses by knowledgeable architects and engineers.
