Japanese and European Community Agricultural Trade Policies: Some U.S. Strategies

Japanese and European Community (EC) wheat and coarse grains policies have increased the cost of U.S. farm programs and cut U.S. farm income. In trying to combat these effects, the United States would benefit more from selective EC and Japanese trade liberalization rather than a removal of barriers on all commodities. This study looks at the alternatives open to the United States, Japan, and the EC, and determines which alternatives would benefit all three countries.
