Twenty-five hemodialysis patients (HP) were randomly assigned to exercise and sedentary control groups. Training increased maximal aerobic capacity and treadmill test duration (GXT). VO2 max did not change in SC. Blood pressures (BP) decreased in 6 of 9 hypertensive EG. BP medications were reduced and catecholamine levels were lower after training, but did not change in SC. Exercise reduced triglyceride (TG) levels by decreasing TG production, and increased high density lipoprotein cholesterol, HDL2-C and apoprotein (APO) A-I.
