摘要

The assessment of surface ground water impacts, termed the probable hydrologic consequences (PHC) determination, is prepared by the applicant using baseline data collected on and near the proposed mine site. Baseline data provided by the applicant includes information defining geology, surface-and ground-water hydrology, and alternative water supplies. The PHC determination is made by comparing the baseline water quantity and quality. Several methods are available to assist hydrologists in the assessment of water-related impacts associated with coal mining activities. The Chapter provides a review of these methods, advantages and disadvantages of the different methods, and the data required to use these methods.
