Air Wise: Self-Management of Asthma Through Individual Education

This report is a user's guide for a self-management program for asthma developed by the American Institutes for Research and the Kaiser-Permanente Medical Groups and supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and its Division of Lung Diseases. This publication is designed to provide individualized education to children ages 9 to 13 with asthma. The goal of the self-management program is to teach the children the skills necessary to deal independently with his or her health problem and to assume responsibility for the daily management of the condition. This educational program usually consists of four 1-hour sessions conducted on a weekly basis.
