摘要

The authors of the report were invited by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research to visit 16 institutions in the USA involved in the research, development, or production of solid propellant rocket motors and ramjets to exchange information about Dutch efforts in the field. Their findings are that: liquid fuel ramjets in the USA are more developed than solid fuels; there is relatively little basic research in ramjets although hi-tech development and engineering is taking place in well equiped laboratories; a major problem which is underestimated by research sponsors is the combustion instability in ramjet and solid propellant rocket motors. The authors noted that the lack of a data exchange agreement between the Netherlands and the USA makes their access to specific scientific information in the USA very difficult.
