Archeological Testing at the Henson Robinson House Site (11SG360) Lincoln Home National Historic Site (1981)

In order to demonstrate the utility of archeological investigations of extant historic structures, and in compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and NPS preservation policies (NPS-28), limited archeological testing was conducted at the Henson Robinson House (H.S. 14) of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield, Illinois. Testing dates extended from August 18 to 26, 1981. The report presents the methods and results of the testing project. In addition, the problems involved in and the relevancy of testing an historic site with an extant structure are examined.
