Assessment of Food Aid as a Development Resource in Nepal

摘要

The objective of the study was to assess food aid as a development resource under the current policies, and determine the implications of food aid in terms of the Government of Nepal's (HMG) national development strategy, including the potential impact of food aid and its cost effectiveness. The only continuing food aid activities in Nepal are carried out by the World Food Program (WFP) but the terms of reference for the study did not include an evaluation of those activities. Current development doctrine regards food aid as a potentially valuable development resource when it is additional to assistance that would otherwise be available to the recipient country.
