摘要

The performance of four commercially available diisocyanates (MDI's) as wood adhesives has been assessed, using the beech-strip test, alone and in combination with wattle tannin, pine tannin and lignosulphonate. The MDI which performs best alone as a warm-setting exterior-grade adhesive is the two component system supplied by Ashland Chemical Corporation. The results obtained with the available pine tannin extracts are not good but as the extraction process is improved the performance of the pine tannin extract will be monitored as and when samples are supplied. The combinations which are considered to be worthwhile technically and economically should be tested, under industrial conditions, for the plywood and particleboard industries.
