Use of Foamed Asphalt in Bituminous Stabilization of Base and Subbase Materials and Recycled Pavement Layers

Part I of this report is an overview of this project. It summarizes the task findings. The foaming characteristics of asphalt must be established by tests for foaming volume and foam life in order to find that optimum asphalt for use. With recycled material, excellent Marshall stabilities were obtained. Detailed mix design procedures were created for foamed mixtures, and these are contained herein. Part II represents the detailed report on the study of the durability of the foamed asphalt mixtures relative to (a) soaking in water; (b) cycles of soaking and freezing and thawing.
