HINDEX (Health Index): An Index to the Public Use Data Tapes of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, 1960-80, Numerical Sort by Tape and Position Field

HINDEX (Health Index) is a data base designed to facilitate location of specific data items contained in the Public Use Data Tapes of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys and the earlier National Health Examination Surveys. Each line of HINDEX contains information on an individual data item or on a set of closely related data items. A description of each item or items is listed under the heading CONTENTS OF THIS DATA FIELD. Other headings in HINDEX are DATA CATEGORY, SOURCE TYPE, TAPE POSITION, and SAMPLE SIZE. HINDEX is printed in three separate sorts. Sort one is alphabetical by data field, sort two is alphabetical by data category, and the third sort is numerical by tape and position field.
