Automatic Audio Signing. Volume 2. Prototype Development and Prototype Pilot Demonstration Program

This report documents the activities, findings and recommendations of a project directed toward the development of an automatic audio signing system. Also referred to as 'Automatic Highway Advisory Radio' (AHAR), its objective is to facilitate aural roadside-to-motorist communications without diverting the motorist's attention from the task of driving. The prototype hardware and software developed for a pilot demonstration is described. The conduct of the pilot demonstration is described and the results, conclusions and recommendations are discussed.
