Workshop on Research Needs in Renewable Materials Engineering. Proceedings Held at West Lafayette, Indiana, October 18-20, 1983

Papers delivered at a workshop held to identify research needs in renewable materials engineering are presented. The papers address both status and future opportunities of four types of processes in renewable materials engineering: fermentation processes, processes based upon immobilized enzymes and cells, chemical processes, and separation processes. The types of research that must be conducted so that each of these processes may be used to its greatest advantage are identified. Among the specific topics addressed are separation processes for oxychemicals, engineering research at the National Science Foundation, and liquid fuel research in Hawaii. A workshop agenda is included.
