Aging Female Veteran: Follow-Up Analyses from the Survey of Aging Veterans

This report is the first in a series of special studies based on data from the Survey of Aging Veterans conducted for the Veterans Administration (VA) by Louis Harris and Associates, Inc., in mid-1983. Harris completed a general analytical report based on the results of interviews with roughly 3,000 veterans aged 55 and over. This current study, as well as several additional reports to be issued later, will examine in more depth some of the other topics of particular interest to those concerned with the aging veteran population. This first report focuses on the aging female veterans identified in the survey with information on their demographic and socioeconomic background, past and current health care, familial support and health care needs.
