摘要

Projected 1984/85 total world grain production increased 16 million tons this month with output up 8% compared to last year. Increases this month were roughly the same in wheat, rice and coarse grains, but the largest change from last year is in coarse grains. Large changes were made in China and Eastern Europe. The U.S. grain forecast was raised almost 1 million tons this month, mostly in corn. Projections of 1984/85 world crop production remain somewhat tentative. Northern Hemisphere projects include harvested winter grain crops that are approaching weather-sensitive growth stages and summer crops currently being planted. Climatic and market developments for the remainder of the season will continue to influence 1984/85 global production prospects. Crop projections generally are based on current conditions and historical trends in area and yield.
