Computer Program to Compute Soil Thermal Conductivity from Transient Temperature Measurements

A computer program written in FORTRAN 77 was developed to compute the thermal conductivity of soil from parameters obtained from a cylindrical probe. The probe was heated externally prior to insertion in the soil. Parameters necessary for the computation are the physical and thermal properties of the probe, the volumetric heat capacity of the soil, an estimate of the soil temperature, the initial probe temperature, and the declining temperature of the probe over time.
