摘要

One source of data for post marketing drug surveillance activities is a Medicaid drug event data base developed from state Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and maintained by Health Information Designs, Inc. (HID). In September 1982, the FDA contracted with Research Triangle Institute, Research Triangle Park, N.C. to conduct a study of the HID Medicaid data to assess the quality of Medicaid claims data as a source of post marketing surveillance information. This document reports on the design and results of that study. In Phase I of the study, a sample of the data contained in HID files was selected and compared to data contained in provider records. In Phase II, the contractor developed methods that FDA could use to evaluate the usefulness and quality of MMIS data from other states entering the HID Medicaid data base. At the time this study began, HID's data base was current through 1980 and contained data from only Michigan and Minnesota.
