摘要

At the conclusion of the 1982 Federal fiscal year, the Department of Labor awarded grants to organizations in six areas to implement one-year demonstration programs aimed at assisting the readjustment of dislocated workers. These areas were Alameda County, CA; Buffalo, NY; Lehigh Valley, PA; Mid-Willamette Valley, OR; Milwaukee, WI; and Yakima, WA. This report is a case study of the program operated in Buffalo, NY by the Buffalo and Erie County Private Industry Council between October 1, 1982 and September 30, 1983. This program served a total of 798 workers who were dislocated after 1979. All program participants received job seeking skills training, and job search assistance; 240 participants received on-the-job training; and 140 received classroom training.
