Report to Congress on the National Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standards Program, Title VI of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974

The report provides a summary of the program's background and purposes, and a description of the activities that have been carried out during 1982-1983. It summarizes the Department's initiatives in regard to changing and amending the Manufactured Home Standards. The report provides currently available data on accidents, and injuries, related to manufactured homes. The report reviews significant activities in the enforcement of the Manufactured Housing Standards Program and provides a summary of the activities of the 35 State Administrative Agencies (SAAs) during the period covered by the report. The report traces the progress of the Department's various research projects on manufactured housing safety, durability and quality, and ancillary questions such as formaldehyde vapor in manufactured homes. Two appendices provide a list of the Standards currently in effect.
