The Extendable Computer System Simulator (ECSS II) is a discrete-event, process-oriented simulation language that was designed to (1) provide a problem-oriented language for simulating computer systems, (2) improve the ease and increase the speed for model development, and (3) provide capabilities for the user to extend the language beyond the available higher-level constructs. Since it original implementation in 1971, ECSS has proven to be an extremely valuable tool in such areas as computer sizing, capacity planning, system tuning, and system design.
