摘要

Area and personal air samples were analyzed for 10 organic solvents, lead (7439921), total chromium (7440473), and hexavalent chromium (18540299) (Cr(VI)) during painting and coating operations at John Deere Harvester Works (SIC-3523), East Moline, Illinois in August, 1981. The authors note that all employees involved in the painting and coating operations were wearing respiratory protection. They recommend that work activities in the painting departments be evaluated to determine the reason for the elevated lead concentrations. Guidelines for reducing Cr(VI) exposures as specified in the NIOSH criteria document on Cr(VI) should be followed, and the position of the spray painters should be evaluated for possible locations that would minimize or prevent accidental exposures.
