Analysis and Assessment of US-WMO Regional Precipitation Chemistry Measurements (1972-1982), a Subset of the National Trends Network

Data from the entire sampling period (1972-1982) for all sites in the National Trends Network and its predecessors are presented. Annual and monthly (where appropriate) volume weighted means, medians, and standard deviations are included. Selected graphs of annual statistics are also shown. Analysis of these data indicates improvement in data quality since 1980 for all ions measured and at all sites. Post-1980 data is of high quality, well documented, and should be useful for most studies requiring a regional data base. Pre-1980 data are of lesser quality and not sufficiently accurate for seasonal evaluation or annual trend analysis.
