Serial Number Tracking of Selected Parts, Components, and End Items

The Instruction establishes a program whereby the Military Services and Defense Agencies will design, modify, and enhance their maintenance data systems and procedures to permit the tracking of parts, components, and end items as selected by the Military Services, by serial number, and expedite the introduction of actual tracking by an orderly, evolutionary process. The Instruction also establishes the Joint Serial Number Tracking Committee.
