Application of Information Technology to Agricultural Extension

The role of agricultural extension is to promote agricultural productivity. Recently, extension services have come under pressure to be more accountable and to improve the delivery of extension recommendations to farmers. The application of information technology to agricultural extension has been considered as a means to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the service. A review of some of the major initiatives in the field, with particular reference to the United Kingdom and United States, is presented in the report.
