The report summarizes the results of Phase 1, Concept Definition, of the AATD program and identifies the reasons such as a new test device is needed. The following areas are reviewed: injury priority from accident data; biomechanical impact response and injury; instrumentation, data processing, and certification procedures; current dummy design and use; anthropometric data for biomechanical response simulation; and AATD technical characteristics, design concepts, and trauma assessment.
