Optimal Multi-Bus Computer Network Design, Technical Report

摘要

The report describes methods for designing optimal multi-bus data networks for government or commercial applications. The design methods use the structure of optimization theory but are principally heuristic in nature. One application of these methods is to a reconfigurable computer system for a satellite. The computer may be in orbit for decades. The original architecture would be determined according to its initial functions. However, new mission requirements may dictate changes to the original architecture. In addition, the ability to dynamically reconfigure the system is critical for responding to bus or processor failure. A new architecture that supports dynamic reconfiguration strategies was investigated.
