General and Psychiatric Hospital Bed Need Plan, 1985-1990. Georgia Health Service Area 3

The 1985-1990 edition of the General and Psychiatric Hospital Bed Need Plan is the fourth plan of this type to be developed by the North Central Georgia HSA. The health service area served by the plan includes a twenty-four county service area in and around Metro-Atlanta. The Bed Need Model this year utilizes patient origin data that was collected statewide by the Georgia Hospital Association. Use rates for each planning area described in the plan are developed by age groups and service categories using current population estimaes. These use rates are projected to 1990 using population projections. The resulting discharges are returned to the hospitals using each hospital's particular market share of that planning area. At the hospital level, the projected discharges and patient days are converted to beds using the appropriate occupancy rate for that facility and service. Projected bed need is then developed based on agency occupancy criteria for each hospital and the HSA area.
