Test Excavation of Site 10-VY-520 Cascade Reservoir, Idaho

The report was made to summarize climatic history. Site 10-VY-520 is located on the west shore of Cascade Reservoir, at the foot of West Mountain. Eastern Oregon State College excavated 48 shovel test holes to an average depth of 0.75 m. Only one lithic flake was recovered. A dark, buried depositional layer was found during excavations, and an attempt has been made to put this layer into a framework of regional depositional and, thus, climatic history. The site was evaluated in terms of its cultural significance within the limits of National Register criteria as outlined under 36 CFR 800.10. The site is not considered to meet the eligibility criteria for inclusions in the National Register of Historic Places under 36 CFR Part 60.6.
