摘要

Combined sewer overflow (CSO) sediments are composed of wastewater and surface runoff, typically from urbanized areas. The relative amounts of these two types of flows will depend on a variety of factors such as the intensity of rainfall and the time of day and year. Because the characteristics of wastewater and urban runoff are quite different, it should be expected that characteristics of CSO's for any particular area would fluctuate markedly. The approach taken here was to characterize wastewater and urban runoff individually and then to extrapolate these characteristics to obtain CSO characteristics of importance to the physical transport of CSO solids.
