Stresses in Full Height Fascia Panels

The report documents the construction of an experimental retaining wall using full height fascia panels in Glenwood Canyon. Previous use of this type of earth reinforced retaining wall resulted in alignment problems because of differential settlement of the earth mass beneath the panels. Reinforced earth company, the designer of the wall, modified the erection procedure to compensate for this. A five-panel wall, twenty two feet height was constructed and instrumented for panel settlements and stresses in the reinforcing steel. The analysis shows that high stresses developed in the steel, while the alignment problem was acceptable.
