Nonphysician Health Care Providers: Use of Ambulatory Services, Expenditures, and Sources of Payment - Data Preview 22

The data preview reports on levels of use and expenditures for nonphysician providers of ambulatory care by the U.S. population in 1977. These providers include a wide range of health professionals, such as nurses, therapists, optometrists, chiropractors, podiatrists, and psychologists. In addition to overall rates of use and annual expenditures by selected population characteristics, the distribution of expenditures among different provider categories is shown. Mean charges for each contact and the average proportion of the charge paid by different sources of payment are estimated, as are average annual expenses per person incurring expenses.
