Wealth of States: The Political Economy of State Development

摘要

For decades state development agencies have acted on the belief that the wealth of a state depends on tax abatements and low interest loans given away to attract out of state businesses. The book challenges those beliefs and makes the point that evolving state economic policy should place more emphasis on establishing a sound fiscal environment, regulation that encourages competition rather than protection, quality in education and long-term planning of public works. This will create an environment for entrepreneurship that will expand and diversify that state economy from within.
