摘要

At present, 1.4 million acres of New Mexico's land area is in irrigated acreage. However, expansion is limited by the lack of adequate fresh water supplies and few crops capable of utilizing the available brackish water. Chile pepper is a major economic crop in New Mexico. Results from these experiments indicate that salt concentrations as low as 775 PPM can reduce plant growth in commercial chile varieties now being grown in the state.
