摘要

Questions regarding the method of calculating allowable loads for timber falsework for constructing highway structures prompted this project. Typical main-post/single-diagonal-bracing (single shear) timber falsework configurations were tested. Parameters included: timber size and moisture content; size and tightness of cnnecting bolts; type of washer; and angle of side member relative to the main member. Results were compared with the National Design Specification's (NDS) table, which is based on double shear action.
